Let’s stop all the crime,
Help each other,
Not hurt each other,
We need to make our community
larger and stronger,
We need to realize
that we have hidden potential;
that we can use to set our future
on the right path ,
We need to stop all the crime
before we run out of time
       
Crime is painful,
Crime is sad,
All our people are getting mad,
We are tired of all the violence,
Because our friends are getting killed,
Why do they target us?
We are the ones
that will change the world-
If given a chance
we’ll lead it to peace,
So please help us to save our futures
by making the violence cease
in my little country of Belize

Crime in the City by Elisha Martinez (6th Grader)

Killing, isn’t it enough,
Don`t you want the mothers
to stop crying,
Stealing people lives away,
Breaking into home,
Raping people,
people are afraid
to go out and have fun
We are not free
in are own country

We are a community,
we are a family,
We are brothers
and sisters,
we should live in peace,
But all we do is stay
away from it,
I guess this is happens
to every society,
We should become a better country,

Our People Are Dying by Beyonce Villafranco (6th Grader)

Murder every day
and everywhere,
Killing everyday
and what should we say,  
This is our children dying,
And we are crying,
It time to make a change,
and to take a stand.

Someday it could be your brother,
or even your mother.
It may not to be today,
but it could be tomorrow,

I want to be free,
I want to be me,
I want to live without fear
in my community,
Going outside
shouldn’t make me worry,

I don’t now who to trust,
Because……
I am afraid they’ll leave me in dust,

So let’s get together
and make a future,
For our mothers, fathers,
sisters and brothers
and even our enemies.

Come together, forever
and let’s love eternally.

Cayo by Karran Bradley (7th Grader)

The problems in Cayo are so sad
Sometimes it makes me feel
as if I’m going mad
I think we should stop the killing
Stop the gangs,
We should hit them in the head
with a frying pan,
It’s not fair,
It’s not right,
So many people are filled with fright,
Things are rough,
Things are sad ,
So many things are going bad,
We should help the needy,
Help the sick,
We should make a change
and make it quick,
All the people who are killing
should be sent to jail,
No matter how much they scream and wail,
I will be heard,
And that day is today,
I will take a stand
no matter what they say!

Crime is Painful by Alvan Gentle (6th Grader)

Crime is sad,
It’s getting in my head,
Please don’t get me mad,
A family member dies,
All of us cry
and ask ourselves why,
Bert Vasquez rapes the girl,
He should be sent to jail
or taken out of this world,
It’s so sad to see the girl past away,
especially for her parents to see her
lying in that grave,

Criminals please don’t take our lives away
On this earth we were meant to stay.

WHY US? by Andrea Gutierez (7th Grader)

When people hurt others
it feels as if they’re hurting me,
Why would you kill someone
who could potentially be
a leader or teacher or one who will feed
us all of our needs,
In this country of rapists and murderers
all of us must stick together,
All of us must fight,
All of us must not sit down and talk
or just go for a walk,
It would be nice
If we could go and buy rice
and come back home that night,
Let us run free,
Run without worry,
Why would you want to harm me,
My life has just begun
I may help someone you love
in the long run,
No I won’t sit here,
I won’t live in fear,
I WILL BE HEARD
EVEN IF I DIE WHILE I TRY!
